# evenito event setup: Your step-by-step guide

## This step-by-step guide will lead you quickly and efficiently through all necessary to-dos—from event creation and guest management to communication and the final test.

### Create event

Before you can add content to your event, you must first create an event. You can create an event from scratch, or by using a template or a copy of an existing event.

Follow the steps outlined in [this article](https://help.evenito.com/create-an-event-out-of-a-template-or-by-copying-an-existing-event?hsLang=en) to create your event.

### Enable required modules

In the second step, enable all modules that you want to use for your event.

### Event settings

Set the foundation for your event in the event settings by entering your basics and defining your location, schedule, timeframes, limits, and speakers' profiles.

- #### **Basics**
  
  Define the [basic information](https://help.evenito.com/basic-settings-of-the-event?hsLang=en) like the name, date, and language of your event and optionally define your [custom placeholders](https://help.evenito.com/basic-settings-of-the-event#custom-placeholders).

- #### **Location**
  
  Add [locations](https://help.evenito.com/add-and-edit-locations?hsLang=en) that you want to show on the website, and provide a description if needed.
- #### **Schedule**
  
  Here you add the [schedule](https://help.evenito.com/create-and-manage-schedule-items?hsLang=en) items for your event.

- #### **Timeframes**
  
  Define the [timeframes](https://help.evenito.com/plan-your-time-frames-and-define-your-registration-deadline?hsLang=en) of your event.

- #### **Limits**
  
  Define [limits](https://help.evenito.com/define-limits-for-your-events?hsLang=en) for the maximum number of participants or companions.

- #### **Speakers**
  
  Add your [speakers](https://help.evenito.com/create-and-manage-speaker-profiles?hsLang=en) or adjust existing speakers.

### Guest management

Under the navigation item "guest management" you create contact fields, groups, and set up your forms.

- #### **Contacts**
  
  Define the [contact information fields](https://help.evenito.com/set-and-edit-the-contact-information?hsLang=en) (such as "company" or "phone") that you want to query in the form or upload as information.
- #### **Groups**
  
  Create [groups](https://help.evenito.com/groups?hsLang=en) (e.g., VIPs, press, employees) to control your communication, registration form, or schedule, and create, if needed, your [group tokens](https://help.evenito.com/create-and-use-a-group-token?hsLang=en).
- #### **Forms**
  
    - Define the [settings and system notifications](https://help.evenito.com/forms-settings-and-structure?hsLang=en) of your forms.
    - [Create your forms](https://help.evenito.com/creating-forms?hsLang=en) by inserting your defined contact fields and add subquestion.

### Communication

Set up the communication for your participants and, for this, create one or more websites and your messages, such as invitation and registration confirmation. The communication for your event can be set up group specifically if needed.

Do you want to host your event online or hybrid?
