# Setup privacy policy or conditions of participation

## You have the option of displaying terms and conditions or privacy policies as checkboxes in the registration form. Here we show you how to set this up.

To display the data protection query on your website as a checkbox in the form, please note the following information.

First, open the Forms menu in Guest Management and add a new [additional question](https://help.evenito.com/specify-event-specific-additional-questions?hsLang=en) using the "**Add entry**" field. Select the "**Single-select**" type for this question and mark the field as "**Required**".

Then click in the "**Text description**" field. Here you can, for example, store the data protection consent forms in plain text form or provide them with further links or PDFs.

- For attaching a **document**, such as a PDF, please click on the **staple symbol ![Bildschirmfoto 2026-03-06 um 12.11.30](https://help.evenito.com/hs-fs/hubfs/Knowledge%20Base%20Import/4.0/Datenschutzbestimmungen%20Best%20Practice/Bildschirmfoto%202026-03-06%20um%2012.11.30.png?width=22&height=22&name=Bildschirmfoto%202026-03-06%20um%2012.11.30.png)**, which will open the file manager. Select your file and insert it. Make sure that you give the document a unique name, as this name will be displayed in the text.
- Do you want to copy and paste a text passage from a document or your website, but the **formatting** has been applied? Click on the **crossed-out T symbol** ![Bildschirmfoto 2026-03-06 um 12.14.56](https://help.evenito.com/hs-fs/hubfs/Knowledge%20Base%20Import/4.0/Datenschutzbestimmungen%20Best%20Practice/Bildschirmfoto%202026-03-06%20um%2012.14.56.png?width=15&height=22&name=Bildschirmfoto%202026-03-06%20um%2012.14.56.png) to delete all formatting and default settings.

**Our recommendation:**

Leave the "**Title**" field blank when you enter your privacy policy, etc., and add the heading in the text description instead. If you select layout 2 in the "**Registration**" module on the website, the asterisk symbol will be placed in front of the answer checkbox:

Please note that you can also vary between different text sizes to highlight the headings, for example. To do this, choose between small, normal, large and huge in the dropdown (4th element from the right).

Finally, pre-define the **participant response**, e.g. "I agree to the privacy policy." This way, you can create a separate additional question for the privacy policy, conditions of participation and other (legal) queries. Confirm your changes with "**Save changes**".
