Duplicate analysis
In this article, you will learn how to check your contact list for duplicates and how to manage them.
In this article:

The duplicate analysis helps you keep your guest management clean by automatically identifying duplicates within your contacts.
This feature is ready to use without additional configuration directly under the "Contacts" menu item in "Guest Management". The e-mail address serves as the unique identifier: the system continuously scans the database and alerts you as soon as an address is assigned more than once.
This comparison takes place in real-time during two central processes:
-
When creating: The system immediately recognizes if an e-mail address already exists, both during manual entry via the creation mask and during a bulk import.
-
When editing: If an administrator changes an existing e-mail address to a version that is already assigned to another contact in the same event, this is also recorded.
All identified matches are clearly bundled in the "Duplicates" tab. An integrated counter shows you at a glance how many potential duplicates in the current event require review.
Managing duplicates in your contact list
When evenito detects duplicates, you can edit them collectively in the "Duplicates" tab. Entries are displayed there grouped by e-mail address.
To do this, first open the "Duplicates" tab in the "Contacts" navigation point. Now check the grouped contacts in the overview. You can choose between the following actions:
-
Delete: Click the trash can icon to remove the redundant contact. Confirm the process in the following pop-up. The contact will then be deleted from all lists, including your regular contacts, and cannot be recovered.
-
Mark as unique: If the entries are actually different participants despite having the same e-mail address, click the "Mark as unique" button. They will then remain visible in the list.

Please note:
E-mail addresses are treated as case-insensitive. This means that Guest@evenito.com and guest@evenito.com are automatically recognized as identical by the system. You do not need to worry about upper or lower case.
Current limitations
To ensure a smooth process, please note the following technical limitations:
-
Maximum group size: A maximum of 5 contacts are displayed per duplicate group. If more than 5 duplicates exist for the same e-mail, a message will inform you. In this case, you should perform the check via the "All Contacts" view using the "E-mail" filter.
-
Event-specific: The check takes place strictly within the respective event. No cross-comparison with other events in your space is performed.
-
No auto-merge: There is no function for automatically merging data. Changes or data transfers must be carried out manually by the event manager.
-
Empty e-mail fields: Contacts without a stored e-mail address cannot be checked for duplicates by the system.
