# Create, copy, delete and archive an event

## Learn how to create events from templates, duplicate, archive, or permanently delete them.

### Create a new event

Navigate to your event overview, "**All events**," and click the **"Create event"** button in the top right corner.

A window will open, guiding you step by step through setting up your event.

**Step 1 of 3: Create Event**

In the first step, choose how you would like to set up your event:

- **evenito templates:** Use pre-made templates provided by evenito.
- **Your team templates:** Use templates created in your Space and shared with you. (If no team templates exist yet, the evenito templates tab will open automatically.)
- **Create from scratch:** Set up a brand-new event without a template (available if you have the administrator role).

**Preview tip:**

In this selection view, you get a quick look at the activated modules. If more than four modules are used, hover your cursor over the **"+X" tag** to display all additional active modules.

Once you have made your selection, click the **"Continue"** button.

In the second step, enter and/or customize your event details. If you chose a template in step 1, these details will already be pre-filled. If you selected "Create from scratch," all details must be entered manually.

- **Event name:** Assign a title to your event.
- **Duration:** Set the start and end dates/times of your event.
- **Languages:** Define the languages in which the event should be set up.
- **Location of your event:** Use the search bar to search directly for your venue.
- **Advanced settings:** Click here to add the event description, timezone, and authorized teams.

Click the **"Create event"** button once you have entered or updated all the details.

**Step 3 of 3: Your Event Is Being Created**

Your event is now being set up in the background. As soon as the process is complete, you will be automatically redirected: If your event includes a website, you will land in the **Website Editor,** otherwise, you will be taken to your event's **"Basic Settings."**

### Copy event

To copy an existing event, hover your cursor over a saved event in the event overview and click the copy icon ![Symbol](https://help.evenito.com/hs-fs/hubfs/Symbol.png?width=23&height=24&name=Symbol.png).

Give the new event an appropriate name in the pop-up window and click **"Copy."**  
The new event will now appear in the overview directly below the original event.

Depending on the size of the copied event, this process may take up to a few minutes.

**Please note:**

When copying existing events, the following functions will not be transferred and have to be submitted again:

- [Logs of the sent e-mails](https://help.evenito.com/dispatch-statistic-and-evaluation?hsLang=en)
- [Website domain](https://help.evenito.com/website-settings?hsLang=en) (domain settings remain, URL part is changed to a random numeric combination)
- [Chats](https://help.evenito.com/chat-and-poll-functions-on-the-virtual-platform?hsLang=en) and [stream moderators](https://help.evenito.com/creating-and-managing-streams-on-the-virtual-platform?hsLang=en) (as those contacts don't exist anymore)
- [Streams](https://help.evenito.com/creating-and-managing-streams-on-the-virtual-platform?hsLang=en)

#### Copying an Event vs. Using an Event Template

What is the difference between copying an existing event and creating a new event based on an event template?

Events that you have converted to a template have been "preserved" with this state. This means that this event template remained unaffected by all subsequent adjustments within the original event from which the template was generated.

If you copy this original event, all adjustments that you made during the event phase will also be adopted. 

 

### Delete event

Hover your cursor over the event you wish to delete in the "All events" overview and click the trash icon ![Event löschen oder archivieren4](https://help.evenito.com/hs-fs/hubfs/Event%20l%C3%B6schen%20oder%20archivieren4.jpeg?width=23&height=24&name=Event%20l%C3%B6schen%20oder%20archivieren4.jpeg). Confirm the deletion process by typing the name of the event into the pop-up window.

Finally, confirm your action by clicking the **"Delete"** button.

**Attention!**

This action can not be undone.

### Archive event

Would you like to remove your event from the event overview without deleting it completely? Then simply move it to an archive. To do this, open the event to be archived by clicking on it and go to the Event settings \> Basics tab. Under **"Event status"** you can select the status "**Archived**":

This will move your event to an archive folder, which you can access via the event overview. The event can therefore be accessed at any time and can also be assigned a different event status if required in order to remove it from the archive. In the overview, you will find the archive folder in the top right-hand corner.
